Delayed gratification, anyone?

The release of Rock My Socks Off is still two months away, but my prepublication commotion is about ready to go into high gear. The first big event will happen in Scarlet magazine, where an advance excerpt from my novel is going to be featured as the "Juicy Bit" in the December issue (street date November Twentysomething)!

And with so much talk of holiday shopping in the air, I've been thinking ... My book won't be out in time for most of the various winter holidays that people celebrate (though the timing will be perfect for Valentine's Day, hint hint); but the January 11 release date falls only a few weeks after the end of Chanukah, and even closer to Christmas, Kwanzaa, and New Year's.

So here's my "Delayed Gratification" offer: If you preorder Rock My Socks Off (from any source) as a belated winter-holiday gift, I will send your giftee a prepublication, personalized e-card on the date you specify. One of my protagonists has tested this out for me, and here's what my other protagonist's card looked like (though Blogger won't let me show it in its full size):

If this appeals to your sense of delayed gratification (and holiday extension), all you have to do is preorder the book, then drop me a line at jerotic AT gmail DOT com telling me what the card should say, where it should go, and on what date. No charge, natch, and you don't need to include anything as formal as a purchase receipt (or a cummerbund).

You can find a list of places to preorder the book here. Please note that the list is UK-centric at the moment, as the U.S. release won't be until June. (I'll post info about Canada, Australia, and New Zealand as it breaks.) BUT publisher Xcite Books, I believe, will ship anywhere in the world! So if you're extra-eager (or, like me, you find that UK spelling conventions turn you on), no need to wait.

P.S. More great news from Xcite this week: Their 2010 publication schedule includes a Justine Elyot collection and a Charlotte Stein novel!

Sounds like a perfect pre-plan to me! Congratulations!

Thank you, Neve! I like "pre-plan." In fact, I like it so much that I'm going to end this sentence with a pre-position.

Good point. (And the wallet becomes a suitcase.)
