Rock My Soxoniensis Off!

Okay, I do realize that my novel's representation in the Bodleian Library of the University of Oxford merely reflects that library's status as a legal deposit library for the United Kingdom, rather than any special distinction given to Rock My Socks Off. In other words, if I understand correctly, they pretty much have "one of everything" in the stacks.

This knowledge, however, will not prevent me from saying, "Whoopee, I'm in the Bodleian Library!" and posting a nice picture of Radcliffe Camera ("Radcliffe Camera, photograph thyself!"). My erotocomedic opus, mind you, will most likely be curated in a somewhat less glamorous venue—for instance, a salt mine in Cheshire—once the librarians have finished relishing the sex scenes. I mean, processing the acquisition.

I shall rush to the Bod forthwith and call it up! Which reading room would you like to appear in? The Upper Reading Room with the lovely frieze and the view of the Radcliffe Camera? Or inside the Radcliffe Camera itself?

Wow—for real?!

If so, I trust your judgment as to best photo op.

Would we need to wait until it's made it through the processing stage? (Or are you thinking it's better to call it up before it gets buried under all that salt?)

P.S. Nice Bod, Olivia!

Actually, it'll go to a wee village called Nuneham Courtenay (we ran out of space for all the books a while back, so we found a handy village to keep them in). And then I will summon it with the Magic Rite Of OLIS, and Lo, it shall come unto the Bodleian...

Thank you so much! How terrific!

My compliments also to the Nuneham Courtenay villagers.

Though I was already getting sort of attached to the idea of the salt mine in Cheshire—if only because it was funnier than anything I could have made up.

Now the British Library book repository is in a wacking big ex-army hanger near a little village called Boston Spa. Not at all pretty, I'm afraid. Kristina Lloyd actually visited it last week, but I don't know if she saw your book...

Well, as long as the books all get a full spa treatment, they probably won't complain too much about the blah architecture.

Whoa! I happen to be rereading this blog post a year later, and I see that the Bod is still "processing" my book. Gosh, how long does it take a staff of highly educated librarians to pass around a 200-page smutty book and mark their favorite passages, anyway??
