Blue Heaven

Actually, Blue Heaven is the title of a delightfully Wodehousian comic novel that I've just begun reading. I was pointed to it by expert pointer-out-of-good-things Alison Tyler.

But that's not really what this post is about. This post is about people I know and admire having the heavenly experience of seeing their books on Violet Blue's Hottest Sex Books of 2009 list! So I'm sending a huge CONGRATS! out to Rachel Kramer Bussel, Sacchi Green, D. L. King, Sommer Marsden, Alison Tyler, and Saskia Walker!! (Plus I have a little slice of heaven myself, as a contributor to AT's Playing with Fire, the book that topped the list. So thank you, Alison—for Blue Heaven and Blue Heaven!)

I'm so glad you liked the book! I don't know how many times I've read it—my copy is beyond battered. And still I laugh out loud at certain phrases.

The scene at the start in the gallery with the horrid pieces of conceptual art—and the artist says:

"A lot of people have been asking me how I make them."

"Really?" asked Holly, suddenly concerned, "have you been telling them?"

"Certainly. It may look complicated, but it's a very simple twelve-step procedure. I'll explain if you like."

"Sure," I said. "We'd both love to—Oh, my God! Is that lock right?" Muttering the old standby about kidney dialysis, I hotfooted it out of the gallery and into the cool night air.

May I say that I just fucking love Blue Heaven.

XXX,
Alison

Self-editing note: I guess "delightfully Wodehousian" is tautological, eh? : )
